In recent years, the financial industry is heavily under fire: The reputation of bankers has become even worse than that of the politicians, and Occupy has shown that more and more people can always offer less of any "monetary authorities".
Nevertheless, in the mainstream media there were in relation to relatively few documentaries that really critically the background of the financial crisis-rayed, is set out on the search for the true causes and not only took the losers, but also the profiteers under the microscope. Usually only the surface has been touched, if at all.
This appears to be changing for some time. Exposed I have three contributions that have been sent in recent weeks and months on TV and have a lot more depth or provide insights, than what they were accustomed otherwise. Whether it's a coincidence that all of them were broadcast on the First or not, it is praiseworthy in any case. Nevertheless, ladies and gentlemen, director: Such films would have wished much earlier! Now, where there the sparrows from the rooftops, that's no big investigative power more, and also no longer particularly courageous. We can only hope that now take other program makers their educational mission seriously. Viewers want to be in the future more frequently spoiled with such enigmatic food, and please at prime time!

No April Fool: For the 12th time the evening were the German "BigBrotherAwards" awarded to particularly active Datenschutzfrevler yesterday. Had gathered to this festive occasion about 300 guests in the Hechelei in Bielefeld (yes, the city actually exists, all conspiracy theories, despite - I could convince myself personally it ;-)), including the judges (including the Chaos Computer Club ) and those in charge of Foebud e. V., which organizes the award annually.

There it is again: the World Cup. Pardon, the FIFA World Cup. Those events, which every four years and mass media dominated like no other "cultural event".
Never before was the organizer, FIFA, as powerful as it is today: More Member States than the United Nations (208: 192), annual profits in the hundreds of millions, monopoly (the only world governing body of football).
The "United Nations of Football", as is often called the organization, also stand for a radical commercialization of football. Who does not play as a member association or better: not spurt, is sanctioned drastically. Examples there sufficiently (for skeptics: just the phrases "sanctions of FIFA" or "criticism of FIFA" via search engine research).

This past long weekend of the 14th Dalai Lama stayed as a guest in Frankfurt am Main. He who understands like no other minister from the Eastern Hemisphere, the people (masses) to move. At least here in the West.
For the first time this year it cost entry to be able to admire the Tibetan "god-king" live. The regular ticket prices ranged between 20 and just under 250 euros, certainly nothing to sneeze at. "Meet the Dalai Lama once in a lifetime" With the organizer found that nonprofit Buddhism in Frankfurt a. M. 2009 GmbH, however, the right slogan to reinforce the crowds at the event yet. 2009 was chosen to Darwin Year - the most well-known representatives of the theory of evolution would this year become 200 years old. The EVO magazine has dedicated to a website designed, and my colleague Ron Engert made it the cover story of the latest issue of its magazine Tattva Viveka. Only two of countless releases, event announcements and other assessments - Google announces at the keyword "Darwin Year" already hit 235,000, barely a quarter of the year is over.
Especially made much trouble, the broadcaster has 3sat with the flash animation "The Darwin Code". In addition to all kinds of cultural references and course tear-outs from Darwin's biography and discussion of diverse colleagues and competitors (forgotten however was the British philosopher and sociologist Herbert Spencer, zeitgeist on its significant research findings in Issue 2-2007 had reported in detail), it is mainly a series of video clips to key terms of evolution ("Darwin bits") that are particularly successful, z. It would be desirable, however, to take the Darwin Year also as an opportunity to reinvigorate the dialogue about the weaknesses or breaks in the theory of evolution, which it indeed remains crucial are more of this entry »
