That lobbying constitutes a manifest evils in our society, is today probably deny hardly anyone. Many networks and cliques make behind the scenes with the politics of the day - according to the motto: one hand washes the other. In Berlin alone, drifting more than 5,000 lobbyists up to mischief.

Meinungsmache, disinformation, unfair collusion, bribery, nepotism, subtle influence draft legislation and votes, before splitting in tenders ... - seems endless list of effect names and offenses of which the average citizen brave long mitbekam nothing. Or could not imagine / wanted how unscrupulously able to act politicians and business leaders. Many also are privy to and remain silent out of fear, or because they themselves benefit from cowardice.

By the atomic disaster in Japan in this country, the fundamental debate on the phasing out of nuclear power boils up again. The there leaked radioactivity displaced by now the whole world worried - and, it seems, there are even more leaks in a completely different place, namely at the Canadian-American border. In a nuclear power plant in Toronto to be flowed into Lake Ontario 73,000 liters of contaminated water ...

Many other good reasons for a nuclear phase-out, there is a long time, but now only wants seven of the oldest reactors, the federal government - at least temporarily - to shut down. Two are probably already from the mains, possibly all 17 German nuclear power plants are even soon permanently decommissioned as an internal strategy paper revealed.

All the world is currently staring at Japan's impending meltdown. The mass media repeat mesmerizing nature pictures from the disaster area and keep us firmly in front of the telly. Other significant events that recently have dominated the headlines (awakening in North Africa!), Pushed into the background (intentional?).

Some bloggers who know better and can practice in lurid, tawdry titles such as "Hiroshima 2.0" which completely pass by the actual thing.

Merkel, Westerwelle and Co. exploit the incidents in the country of the rising sun for their re-election and try a delaying tactic (otherwise thinks the term "moratorium"), only to announce sometime in April once again "April Fool!". Post read more »

Since yesterday evening, more precisely since this morning, we know that two, if not five reactors after the earthquake in Japan is threatening a meltdown - with all the consequences of a meltdown that could put the previously destroyed in the shadows. With all due sympathy for the people living there but one wonders how the island nation could ever come up with the idea to build so many nuclear power plants in this earthquake-prone region - where a major disaster could only be a matter of time before that! Why tempt fate in this way?
