Last night our editors received the indication of a online vote of the European Citizens' Consultations , a device that was completely unknown to me until now. As I experienced, it brings randomly selected citizens from all 27 EU Member States, and aims to discuss with decision-makers the most important challenges facing Europe - ahead of the European elections of course of particular importance.
Suggested topics may submit to the Internet, be distributed equally there voices (registration is required). Here is a selection previously filed applications in Germany:
- Popular initiative and referendum in Europe
- Abolition of compounding economic system, introduction of a "revolving secured money"
- Protect citizens against the surveillance state
- More Privacy
- basic education reform
- Right to education for all
- Fight corruption
- Introduction of an effective statutory whistleblower protection
- Make managers responsible for the financial crisis
- Create tax havens dry
- No Patents on Life
- Human rights, even for unborn life
- European ban on genetically modified seeds
- Reduce Agarsubventionen
Most votes received - as today - the "introduction of an unconditional basic income". After a strong interest in the recently submitted petition to the Bundestag can also point to the European level, now that many people in this country want a discussion of the topic in greater context.
May be matched only by tomorrow.
Besides Germany have France, Spain, Great Britain, Italy and Lithuania to the currently liveliest participation. On the main proposals and number of votes in the other countries can be seen.
Knowledge you should have that the European Citizens' Consultations are supported not only by the European Commission, but including the Foreign Office.

The proposal on the unconditional basic income is by now the undisputed number one.
The direct democracy since it has a bit heavier, although they can still make it into the top ten - it just is ranked 28th but it only needs 150 additional votes to finish in the top ten. Time is short !! So best to vote the same now even:
